Sen. DeGazon to host Small Business Expo on St. Croix

As chair of the Committee on Economic Development, Regulations and Agriculture, and an entrepreneur herself Sen. Allison DeGazon understands the importance of small businesses in the Virgin Islands Economy and will be hosting a Small Business Expo.

The expo—set for Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sunny Isle Amphitheater—will be geared towards current small businesses and residents interested in becoming entrepreneurs. The general public is also invited to attend.

“Small businesses are the engine that drives the economy of the territory, and we need to provide more opportunities for small businesses to create a thriving business community” DeGazon said.

During the event there will be presentations from government and private entities to aid entrepreneurs. Booth display areas will be available for exhibitors to showcase and sell their products and services.

DeGazon is also seeking exhibitors for the expo. Registration for the expo has already began and the deadline to submit applications is Thursday, Oct. 17. Businesses are encouraged to submit the registration form as soon as possible as space is limited.

“This is also an opportunity for our small businesses to introduce themselves so that they can increase their clientele. New clients also mean a possible increase in profits," DeGazon said.

DeGazon wants to remind the business community that she is staying focused on her platform to support small businesses. Recently, a bill to aid minority and women-owned businesses drew widespread support in July from the Committee on Economic Development, Regulations and Agriculture.

Registration forms can be sent to Ki-Ana Tonge, Community Liaison, at ktonge@legvi.org. For more information call 340-712-2251.
